Sophomore rower and Dr. Pepper Tuition winner Synene Maria Abukaram won a $100,000 scholarship at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Dec. 4 during the halftime show of the Michigan vs. Iowa B1G Ten Championship game. Abukaram was a walk-on coxswain for the 2020-21 women’s rowing squad at Eastern Michigan, and is now in her second year with the rowing team. She is majoring in Combined Athletic Training and is originally from Sylvania, Ohio.

As a freshman in college, I assure you that taking notes effectively is an incredibly valuable skill to be mastered. To be honest, I didn’t used to take notes but after figuring out the benefits of note taking I can't attend a single class without writing notes down. However, many students suffer when taking notes without guidance. In this article, I will summarize what I learned through my experience of suffering while successfully maintaining straight A's!

As a senior in college, it’s tough to think that maybe I missed out on a “normal” college experience by being a commuter. To some extent, I did. While the majority of students choose to live on campus for at least one year throughout their education, I was never given a great chance, and as a result, I spent three years as a commuter student (not including 2020 when everyone was considered an online student).
