Volleyball beats Huskies 3-1 for first MAC win

The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team defeated the host Northern Illinois Huskies, 3-1 (28-26, 26-28, 25-15 and 25-20) Saturday for its first Mid-American Conference win. The Eagles are 13-3 and 1-1 in the MAC.

Eagles 8th at Toledo meet

The Eastern Michigan University women’s cross-country team took eighth place in the Inter-Collegiate Bubble Buster Friday in Toledo, Ohio, recording 204 points. Teams finishing above the Eagles included Ohio State (seventh), Baylor (sixth), Mid-American Conference opponent Toledo (fifth). Arkansas won the invitational with 36 points.

Notre Dame’s loss has turned out to be Eastern Michigan University’s gain. Senior Haley Stein is a 5-foot-6 libero from Carleton, Mich.




Reese's strength a team highlight

He was the team leader in tackles-for-loss (4.5 for 34 yards) and sacks (3.5 for 23) last season. He is one of the scholar-athletes on the Eastern Michigan University football squad.


EMU didn’t make the upset of the year, but it did make those Wolverine’s shocked by taking the first points of the game at the Big House.

Visiting Eastern Michigan University suffered its first loss, 31-3, against Michigan Saturday. The Eagles were led by running back Javonti Green, who carried for a team-high 80 yards.

Volleyball advances to 12-2

The Eastern Michigan University Eagles made their record 12-2 by winning the Robert Morris Holiday Inn Volleyball Classic in Moon Township, Pa., Friday and Saturday. The Eagles took on the Morgan State Bears in the first match and defeated the Bears 3-0 (25-18, 25-5, 25-12). Paige Roback led the way for the Eagles with 11 kills.

Junior Terefe Ejigu finished in first place Friday for the men’s cross country team in the Spartan Invitational in an 8,000-meter field with a time of 24:23 against 257 other runners.

Eastern Michigan University is off to a 2-0 start. But to make that a 3-0 record, the Eagles will have to travel to Ann Arbor to face the University of Michigan and steal a win.


Eagles 2-0 first time since '89

Eastern Michigan University defeated the Hornets of Alabama State 14-7 on Saturday at Rynearson Stadium. The Eagles are 2-0 for the first time since 1989 and play noon Saturday, at Michigan Stadium against the Wolverines (2-0).

Sherrer showcases talents on, off field

In the 41-9 victory against Howard University in the season opener, Eastern Michigan University quarterback Alex Gillett gave the ball to senior running back Dominique Sherrer, who broke right through the defense, saw nothing but green grass and pumped his legs for a 77-yard touchdown run.
