The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team (4-11, 1-1 MAC) hosted Central Michigan University (6-9, 1-1 MAC) on Saturday, Jan. 7, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center to pickup a 62-56 comeback win after a slow start. The win marks the Eagles' first conference win of the season, as they improve to 1-1 in conference play so far.

As an engineering major myself, I deal with math and physics a lot, yet when it comes to future careers I know that I most likely will not be using complex math. Oftentimes, engineers choose to go into mechanics, aerospace, and other branches of physics, all of which normally use the simplest types of math to solve the most complex problems.

Tsu-Yin Wu, an Eastern Michigan University professor of nursing, has been awarded a federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Navigator cooperative agreement award of $794,730. Under the CMS grant project, Wu will act as the project director, leading the endeavor to make health coverage more easily accessible to communities.

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team played its oldest rival which dates back to 1898, earning a home victory downing the visiting Titans of the University of Detroit Mercy inside the George Gervin Game Above Center on Dec. 18. The Eagles (3-9, 0-0 MAC) snapped a three-game losing streak with their second home victory of the season while defeating the Titans (5-7, 1-1 Horizon) for the second game in the series.

In a rematch of the 1987 California Bowl, the Eastern Michigan University Eagles (9-4, 5-3 MAC) faced the San José State University Spartans (7-4, 5-3 MWC) at Albertsons Stadium for the 2022 Famous Potato Bowl in Boise, ID. The Eagles are now 2-0 against the Spartans after a trio of turnovers helped lift the team to the program’s second-ever bowl victory, 41-27. Winning much more handily this time, the teams' first meeting resulted in a narrow 30-27 victory for the Eagles in the 1987 California Bowl.
