Newlyn Stephenson joins top five throwers in EMU's record book at the Tennessee Relays

The Eastern Michigan University track & field team competed at the Tennessee Relays on April 7 through April 9 at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium. On the first day, junior Newlyn Stephenson and sophomore Miranda Cadwell highlighted the day, both achieving top-10 performances for the program. Stephenson threw a personal-best throw of 64.36m, topping his previous record of 63.97m.

EMU track and field competes in Golden Grizzlies Invitational

On April 8-9, some members EMU track and field participated in the Golden Grizzlies Invitational in Rochester, MI. Chevonne Wheeler and Maleah Scott competed in their first collegiate heptathlon over the weekend.

Kadian Clarke beats EMU shot put record at Spartan Invitational

Eastern Michigan University’s track team traveled to East Lansing on April 1 to compete in the two-day Spartan Invitational. During day one of the Spartan Invitationals, the eagles' throwers had a solid showing with an individual first-place performance, two-second place performances, and two new personal records for additional eagle teammates.

EMU gymnast Ella Chemotti individually qualifies for NCAA Regional Championships

Freshman Ella Chemotti earned an individual invitation to the NCAA Regional Championships March 30 - April 2. Chemotti scored a 9.900 on beam at the NCAA Regional Championships and tied for second place. 

EMU baseball splits double-header with Western Michigan in Saturday's matchup

The Eastern Michigan mens’ baseball team took on Western Michigan in a double-header on Saturday, where a split resulted in the two sets. Freshman Adam Falinski threw his second complete game on the season to earn EMU a win in game one. 

EMU rowing completes strong effort against MSU in home opening regatta

The EMU rowing team raced against the MSU Spartans on April 2. The 2V8 race had a great turnout, with the Eagles finishing only 0.04 seconds behind.

EMU women's tennis team gives their all in close clash with Western Michigan

The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team traveled to Kalamazoo, MI on March 25. for a matchup against Western Michigan. A hard-fought battle from both teams concluded in a 3-4 win for the Broncos over the Eagles. EMU did not secure any double points, losing both the No. 1 and No. 3 matches while No. 2 was unable to be finished.

EMU Track & Field concludes first outdoor meets of the season at Raleigh Relays and Hurricane Collegiate Invitational

The Eastern Michigan University track and field team competed in North Carolina at the Raleigh Relays on March 24-26, and also in Coral Gambles, Florida for the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational on March 26. The program saw many personal-best performances from its members throughout the three-day showdown. 

EMU baseball claims victory over Akron with combined 28 runs in Friday double-header

On Friday March 25, the Eastern Michigan University baseball team hosted the home-opening series against Akron at Oestrike Stadium in Ypsilanti, MI. Eastern Michigan University baseball gained a successful win over the University of Akron. Game one resulted in 10-9 Eagles, with game two scoring in at 18-6 EMU.

EMU Baseball welcomes Oakland University in home opener

Eastern Michigan’s baseball team faced Oakland University Tuesday resulting in a loss for the Eagles. The Eagles are now 5-12 for the season thus far.

EMU baseball dominates Butler, 15-4

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team (3-10, 1-3 Mid-American Conference) traveled to Bulldog Park in Indiana on Saturday, Mar. 15 to face off against Butler in the first game of a three-game series. A total of nine Eagle players tallied at least one hit in game one of the series versus Butler. Junior Gabe Denton lead the charge with a game-high of home runs with one as well as runs scored with four total. 

EMU gymnast Ella Chemotti named MAC Freshman of the Year

The Eastern Michigan gymnastics team competed at the MAC Championship on Saturday, March 19, 2022, where they finished in sixth place in a tough meet. Freshman Ella Chemotti tied for first on bars and went home as the MAC Freshman of the Year. 

EMU rowing completes successful annual training trip against No. 15 Alabama

On March 5, the Eastern Michigan University women’s rowing team competed against the University of Alabama. This trip happens every year over spring break to kick off the Eagles outdoor spring season.

EMU men’s golf team records their lowest 54 hole score in program history at Grand Canyon Invitational

Eastern Michigan participated in the Grand Canyon University Invitational March 14-15. Eastern Michigan posted the 12th-lowest 54 hole score in program history during Tuesday’s event. The Eagles placed 10th overall and saw Ty Celone record his 24th career top-25.

Eastern Michigan University baseball starts Spring season

 The Eastern Michigan University baseball program (2-8, 0-2 Mid-American Conference) kicked off the first game of a doubleheader Sunday, Mar.13 against the Ball State Cardinals. EMU’s only score of the game came from junior Gabe Denton. Denton smashed a solo home-run against Cardinal’s pitcher Tyler Schweitzer. 

Taige Bryant receives First-Team All-American as EMU indoor track season comes to a close

On Friday, March 11, Taige Bryant and Newlyn Stephenson competed in the NCAA championship for weight throw. Bryant placed sixth with a throw of 22.21m and Stephenson placed 11th.

EMU mens’ golf finish 11th at the Colleton River Collegiate

The Eastern Michigan mens' golf team competed at the Colleton River Collegiate at the Jack Nicklaus Course on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. The Eagles finished in 11th place in the event, as senior Ty Celone finished in the top-25.

EMU womens' basketball honors nine senior players in the last home game of the season

EMU women’s basketball fell short 75-51 to the University of Toledo. Nine EMU seniors were recognized for Senior Day at their last home game of the season.

Four swim and dive team members enter EMU’s record book after Championship performances

Eastern Michigan’s swim and dive team traveled to Bowling Green, Ohio to compete in the MAC Championships. Despite not winning the Championship EMU earned three silver and two bronze medals.
